Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Over the past few years, the Holy Cross Board of Directors has prayerfully considered how to best care for and make use of the facilities God has entrusted to us, particularly our Worship Center. Phase One began with reimagining the space by moving the pews and altar to face the east wall instead of the corner of the building. As we discussed at the time, this change was a way to see how a new layout might enhance worship and fellowship. The positive response confirmed that the new arrangement was a meaningful improvement, so the Board has now moved to Phase Two and enlisted a Remodel Committee to explore what a more permanent and refreshed update could look like.
Why Now?
The Holy Cross Worship Center has served our family faithfully for 50 years. Through countless baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals, and Sunday services, it has been a sacred space where God’s Word has been proclaimed, His sacraments administered faithfully, and His people have been nourished in their faith. Yet, while the rest of our building received needed updates a few years ago following the “Icemageddon” water damage, the Worship Center itself remained largely unchanged. After five decades of steady use, it’s time to give thoughtful attention to this sacred space. Not only to care for what we have, but to prepare it for the next generation that will worship here as well.
The Heart Behind the Project
The goal of this exploration is not change for change’s sake. Rather, it’s about faithful stewardship and a desire for genuine hospitality to make sure our worship space reflects the warmth of our congregation and the glory of the God we serve. We want our Sanctuary to be aupdated place for welcoming both our current members and those who may be visiting Holy Cross for the first time. Our hope is that the environment in which we gather would address the many years of steady use and clearly reflect the beauty, reverence, and joy that mark our life together in Christ.
What Comes Next
In the coming weeks, the Remodel Committee will continue its work of researching, listening, and preparing a proposal. Their recommendations will be presented at the Voters Assembly meeting on December 7 after church, where the congregation will have an opportunity to learn more and ask questions. Be assured that no final decision has been made as the Board of Directors cannot make a decision like this without final approval coming from the Voters Assembly.
Please keep this process in your prayers, that the Lord would guide us in our stewardship with wisdom, unity, and a shared desire to glorify Him in all we do so that this sacred space may serve to bless all who enter in. Please join us December 7th after worship and potluck for our annual meeting of the Voters Assembly to learn more.
In Christ,
Pastor Luke
